We originally were going to have breakfast at a popular chain restaurant nearby, but the 45 minute wait time for a table for three had me searching for another option. I've been practically next door to Steve's plenty of times, but I guess I've never taken notice of this coffee shop. Now, I think I'll be back often. We were greeted warmly upon entering, and our service was on point. I had a craving for pancakes but I often don't finish them...not so at Steve's. These pancakes were awesome - fluffy and light, and very tasty. All three of us were quite happy with our meals.

The neighborhood is changing, but Steve's Coffee Shop did not get the message, nor did they want to. This is a gem of a hole in the wall joint, serving great food with the ambiance of the past. The place is rather small, walking in you have a counter area with seating to the right and booths to your left. If you keep walking there are more secluded booths in the back section. Perfectly cleaned booths that look original from 35+ years ago. The lighting is dim and warm. Now to the food. Our waitress was very.....humm...to the point, yet friendly, and you could definitely tell she was a Queens native. I ordered the two eggs (over easy), bacon (crispy) and the home fries. I also had a glimpse of homemade, still in the pan blueberry muffins on the way to our booth. I knew I had to have one of those today. Forget the toast, bring on the muffin. I also ordered the iced coffee. The iced coffee was strong, but not bitter and did not have a burnt flavor. It was very robust. I added extra milk to make it to my liking. The order almost came from the grill to the table in seconds. The waitress wasted no time in picking up and delivering my order. The eggs were perfectly over easy, bacon was crispy and there was at least six pieces on the plate. I hit the Baconbonanza! Home fries were hot, with small pieces of caramelized onion and green pepper. The blueberry muffin was sliced and toasted on the grill with butter and was mouthwatering. This standard breakfast fare was perfect. The portion was just the right size so that you could be a member of the clean plate club without that feeling like you just over stuffed yourself. The parking is on street, but we had no problem parking almost in front of Steve's. A lot of the businesses on this street open later so go early so you can get parking close. Even if you can't park close, this place is worth the walk. A step back in time, where the waitress knows the regulars by name, the food is good and the past is still here in the present. Big love for Steve's! Can't wait to go back.

Old school coffee shop/diner. Booths with coat hangers. I am looking for the jukerbox on the table. Walking in all workers said hello, friendly place. Prices good. Portions standard. Waitress has reat Queens accent. Blueberry muffin excellent. You can tell the regulars as they are loud and are pontificating. Tennis discussion.
